Ladakh and the Nubra valley has been a crossroad for commercial activities between India, Tibet and Central Asia. It was an important stage for caravans following the Silk Road, which where swapping their mules for the famous camels of Bactriane. The geopolitics evolution tended to transform the Nubra valley into a unique bubbly place only accessible by highest motorable roads in the world, passing over the Khardung la pass at a height of 5400 m. Lying approximately 400m lower than Leh, Nubra sports a much milder climate, which enables its inhabitants to cultivate more extensively, as compared to their counterparts in the main Indus valley. It is only since 1995 that the restricted area of the Nubra opened its ours to foreigners. The itinerary links the Indus and Nubra valley, through mineral landscapes, in an atmosphere of ancestral traditions

Itinerary:

1st Day: On your Arrival in Delhi you will be received by company officials and taken to catch the early morning flight to Leh.

2nd Day: Upon reaching Leh you will be taken for a Tour of Leh city, including the 17th century palace and gompa.

3rd or 4th Day: Next few days you will be busy touring the monasteries and palaces of the Indus valley.

5th Day: After a morning stroll you leave for Sankar Gompa, then to the nearby village of Sabu. Overnight stay will be in Sabu.

6th Day: In Sabu, you meet your horses and begin the much-awaited trek. Your first day will take you through lovely grazing areas to the campsite at Polu Digar. From this vantage point, the Stok Mountains appear to float majestically above the Indus valley.

7th Day: The following day also you continue upward to the Digar La base camp, short days to aid acclimatize.

8th Day: You make an early start to cross the 17,230 ft. Digar La. From the top, views stretch south to the Zanskar range and north to the Saser range, Ladakh’s highest peaks. The descent is steady and you camp by a lovely meandering stream at Chumik Yogma.

9th Day: You continue down through the village of Digar to the tiny settlement of Aghyam.

10th Day: The next day is followed by trek to Tangyar, a prosperous village in a remarkable location.

11th Day: Continue you trekking upward to Dhungle, our base camp for the pass.

12th Day: You reach your second pass! Ascend the 17,061-foot Wuri La for views all the way to the Karakoram in Pakistan! Descend to camp at Zule Tokpo.

13th Day: Finish the trek with a short walk out to the village of Sabu, and the TakTok gompa, an ancient shrine built within an impressive cave. Travel by jeep over 18,000 foot plus Chang La to the village of Tangtse, where you camp amongst idyllic meadows.

14th Day: You explore the shoreline of the brilliant turquoise and azure Pangong Lake, Ladakh’s largest and one of the great salt lakes of Central Asia. Proximity to the Chinese border prevents us from penetrating much beyond the western shore or camping at the lakeside, but the views are stupendous. Our return to Leh takes us back over Chang La, the second highest motorable road on earth. Back in the Indus valley, we visit the little-known gompa of Chemrey before returning to Leh that evening.

15th Day: The next morning leave for Delhi with unforgettable memories of your Nubra Valley Trek with Leh Ladakh India. On arrival in Delhi check in to a Hotel for overnight stay.
